Public Computers / Internet / Wifi
 
  • The Main Library has 9 computer stations available to the Public.  The Lowry City Branch has 6 public access computers.
  • In order to use computer resources, each patron must read, understand, and sign our Computer Use Contract. The signature of a parent or guardian is required on contracts of those patrons under 18 years of age. Computer/Internet Use Contracts are available at the front desk upon request.
Actions prohibited by the Library include:
  •     Downloading or installation of programs to any Library computer
  •     Deliberate misuse or abuse of the computers, or other patrons using them
  •     Viewing of content deemed inappropriate or offense to others
WiFi is available at no charge at each library.  Patrons can request an access receipt at each front desk location.

Genealogy & Microfilm Reader

At the Main Library, there is a the Genealogy Collection consisting of print and microfilm resources.  There are Census Records and County Newspapers available to view on the Microfilm Reader.

The microfilm reader has the ability to print and/or scan the images/documents to a file and saved on a flash drive or attached in an email.  The cost per print is $.15/page.

Children's Programs

The Main Library offers a weekly "My World" Story Hour on Thursdays at 10 am.  

In the summer the library offers the Summer Reading Program at the Main Library, as well the the Lowry City Branch.  The children are encouraged to sign up, set a reading goal and then have fun a the weekly meeting times for stories, crafts and fun activities.

The Winter Reading Program is the same format, just offered in January.

Adult Programs

The Main Library and Lowry City Branch have computer classes available to the patrons and community members, free of charge.  We do request that you call and register your spot in class so the Instructor knows how many people to expect.  Check the Library's Calendar more details.

There are other programs available like the Cherry Bake-Off, Art Classes and a variety of interesting topics to stay busy with throughout the year.  Check the Library's Calendar for specifics.


Copy/Print/Fax/ Scan

Copying
  • Black and white copier can accommodate 8.5 x 11, 8.5 x 14, and 11 x 17 size paper.
  • Cost for black and white copies of any size is $0.20 per sheet.
  • Copies for non-profit organizations supplying their own paper are $0.05 per sheet.
  • Color copier can accommodate 8.5 x 11 size paper.
  • Cost for color copying is $0.30 per sheet.

Printing
  • Cost for printing is $0.20 per sheet for black and white, $0.30 per sheet for color.
  • Patrons supplying paper receive a discount of $0.07 per sheet copied or printed.

Faxing
  • The library can send & receive faxes. The Library's fax number is 417-646-8643.
  • Cover sheets are available and not included in the cost, unless the cover sheet is the only sheet faxed.
  • The cost for sending a fax to a local or long distance number is $2.00 for the first page and $0.50 per page for every page after.
  • It is free to send a fax to a toll free or '1-800' number.
  • Receiving a fax costs $0.20 per page.
Scanning
  • The library can scan in Black & White or Color for $0.25 per item.
  • If the image or document requires editting or resizing there is an additional &0.75 fee.

Interlibrary Loan
  • In the event that the Library does not have or plan to get a specific book requested by a Patron, the Library can attempt to borrow the book from another library.
  • The following information needs to be submitted for the Interlibrary Loan process to begin:
    • Title & Author of the book
    • Patron's Name, Address and Phone Number
    • ISBN # of the book
  • If you require assistance in locating any of the above information, please ask a librarian.
  • You may also email your request to stclaircountylibrary@gmail.com.
  • The Library will borrow one book at a time, per patron.
  • The Patron is also responsible for any lost, damaged, or overdue Interlibrary Loan items.


Meeting Room

The Main Library and the Lowry City Branch both have meeting rooms available at no charge for public use.  Please call the Library to check the status and  reserve the room.
